The North American Miniature Australian Shepherd is a smaller version of the Australian Shepherd. The ideal size is 14 to 18 inches tall at the withers. Their usual weight is between 15 to 35 pounds. An identifying characteristic is the natural or docked bobtail. They possess a medium length coat, with an undercoat, and rarely smell "doggy". Temperament is reserved with strangers, however they warm up quickly and are loving and playful with owners and guests.
Many excel in herding, flyball, agility, and Frisbee. They are very easily trained with positive reinforcement and can be fabulous competitors in the obedience ring. These dogs truly do have an addictive personality and it IS true... "Betcha Can't Own Just One!"
Located in Charlotte, Maine, my dogs are raised with love in my home and enjoy all the comforts and elements of country life. We go swimming, boating, long nature walks, and play Frisbee, catch, and a little agility.
I love all aspects of raising Aussies, from whelping a new litter to putting them into the show ring. They fill my days with warmth, love, and laughter!
I am a member in good standing with the parent breed clubs MASCA and NAMASCUSA and am proud to be on the blue ribbon breeders list. I have also served as a Board member on both NEMASC, and NAMASCUSA , as well as being a member of the St Croix Kennel Club. I hope you enjoy visiting with my dogs! If you have any questions please feel free to e-mail me at Lakeside Kennel.
